3D Printers

This morning, commander BarryWilmore installed a 3-D printer at the international space station. The printer was about the size of a microwave oven. The 3D printer installed in the MSG isn't quite that printer yet -- the astronauts will be using it to test how well 3D printing works in microgravity. My question is, when will we have availability to this kind of technology on earth? This printer can strokes objects out of plastic feedstock. Mike Snyder, Made in Space lead engineer, stated this-

"This is a very exciting day for me and the rest of the team. We had to conquer many technical challenges to get the 3D printer to this stage. This experiment has been an advantageous first stepping stone to the future ability to manufacture a large portion of materials and equipment in space that has been traditionally launched from Earth surface, which will completely change our methods of exploration."

Hardware and software are both in full operating condition due to mechanical checks done by commander Wilmore. To me, this really shows how much our technology has evolved in time.

Is "space travel" in our future?

According to Virgin Galactic's, space travel could be in our future. However, Many people are doubting that this fantasy will ever happen. This is due to safety precautions. Many are criticizing the company. Chris Taylor at Mashable explains how This shouldn't even be called space tourism. He states that "...these people should be called space pioneers. Is not tourism." I believe that this was just a simple falter. Everyone must fail at sometime to succeed. Therefore, Virgin Galactic's has announced that it will be a hefty $250,000 to aboard a space shuttle in the future. Several people have already bought tickets to go to space, such as Justin Bieber, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Ashton Kutcher. If I had this kind of money, I certainly would be on the list as well.

Ebola Travelers

As many of you know, Ebola has became a great problem in our world today. The Ebola virus is extremely contagious. It is also mainly found in West Africa. Therefore, it has been diffused across the world by travel. In reaction to this deadly epidemic, many people are suggesting to ban travel form West Africa. However, travel bans in the pass haven't worked, such as the travel ban due to AIDs in 1987 issued by Ronald Reagan. I believe this travel ban could work. We have much better technology now than we use to. Now we could regulate who got on the plane or ship.
When being interviewed by the Atlanta Journal Constitution, Barack Obama stated this: "I don't have a philosophical objection to a travel ban if that is the thing that is going to keep the American people safe ... A travel ban is less effective than the measures we are currently instituting."

Thinking about going on a short roadtrip?

http://www.ajc.com/news/travel/georgia-state-parks-offer-cool-alternatives-this-s/nQXMc/        According to the website above, there are many locations to lay-low in our little state of Georgia. These fun places include: Black Rock Mountain, High Falls, Little Ocmulgee, and  Cloudland Canyon.
Black Rock Mountain is a 3,640 ft. high masterpiece in the Blue Ridge Mountains in the northeast corner of the state. This beautiful creation happens to also be Georgia's highest point. Black Rock Mountain also has an assortment of activities, such as fishing and paddling this is allowed on a stocked 17-acre lake. I believe this would be a great place to explore.
High Falls is an amazing sight of a 135 foot waterfall that tumbles over a spillway. This creates a beautiful dam. However, swimming and wading aren't allowed due to safety reasons. Therefore, canoes, kayaks, fishing and pedal boating can all be preformed in a nearby lake.
The Little Ocmulgee is a lodge and golf course located in the southern-central part of the state. At this Georgia State Park, there are activities for children as well. Therefore, Little Ocmulgee contains a splash-pad. This is a water area that has colorful spouting and misting water features and mounted water guns that children use to squirt each other. The Little Ocmulgee also has a golf course for the adults.
Cloudland Canyon is a wondrous view from the rim of a deep sandstone canyon carved, by erosion, into Lookout Mountain in northwest Georgia. There's a cave in the park where it's a steady 56 degrees year-round. You can even hire guides to help you explore.
All of these extravagant places would be great vacation sites for a short period of time, such as a weekend trip for your family. I will most certainly be reconsidering the places I want to visit.
